Stal Gallery presents “Ascendence,” an exhibition by Omani artists Budoor Al Riyami, Ahmed Al Mullahi, Rawan Al Mahrouqi, and Sarah Al Aulaqi. “Ascendence” is Rawan Al Mahrouqi’s first curatorial work under the supervision of Gallery Director Hassan Meer.
From the beginning of time humans have been dreaming of ascending back to the sky, the heavens we were denied of after the original sin. What are people looking for in their religious behaviour? Morals? Fear? Returning? Or is it for divine love and nothing else?
The artists taking part in this exhibition are answering these questions starting a conversation about what it means to be searching, what it means to find (or not to find) religion or spirituality, documenting their views and experiences.
“Ascendence” opens on Monday, February 12, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. at Stal Gallery in Madinat Qaboos.
